Who could possibly forget the pocket sized fireball designer from Project Runway, Christian Siriano? I mean hell, he coined the term "Hot Tranny Mess" which will forever be apart of our lexicon.

What are The Recessionistas?

Who are The Recessionistas? The Recessionistas are women, who during this time of economic turmoil, have decided to keep being fly as priority on a budget.

Why the term Recessionista? Recessionista is a play on the term Fashionista during the Recession.

What do The Recessionistas do? The Recessionistas spend wisely, shop for deals and know the difference between that which is cheap and that which is quality for less. The Recessionistas order apetizers instead of entrees because they still have busy social schedules, know that they aren't made to be couch potatoes, they buy classic pieces off EBay, instead of cheap polyester from from Forever 21. The Recessionistas comb the Fashion Rags, stay abreast of the current trends and then go out and find them...for less than retail.

What's the difference between being cheap and being a Recessionista? The Recessionistas know that wardrobes should be an investment, they don't bother with cheap clothes, that are poor quality because they know that it will cost more in the end. Instead they are purchasing $200 J Brand Jeans at Bloomies on Sale for $89, staying fashionable, trendy but always smart.
